Reading about the metacrisis is step one. Step two is looking up from the page and noticing you live in a city of eight million people where thousands of them are already at work: growing food, hauling compost, running mesh networks, suing polluters, holding grief circles, making art about all of it.
None of these groups would call themselves metacrisis organizations. That is fine. Each one holds a piece. To be clear: we are not an organization and we are not fundraising. Our job is to send you to them. The map below sorts groups by the piece they hold, links each piece back to the ideas behind it, and tells you how to show up. New to the whole conversation? Arts in Bushwick / Bushwick Open Studios
Volunteer-run arts org behind Bushwick Open Studios, the neighborhood-wide open-studio weekend, plus vendor markets and youth programs.

Volunteer network of Bushwick neighbors supporting neighbors since 2020. Food and essential-goods distribution, plus referrals to trusted legal, housing and medical orgs. Bilingual by default.

13,000 sq ft volunteer-built public garden at 46-50 Goodwin Pl, reclaimed from a dumping ground in 2017 by Kofi Thomas and neighbors. Grows food that gets given away, hosts arts, education and cultural events April through December.

Bushwick
New York's largest immigrant-led membership org, 30,000+ members, headquartered at 301 Grove St in Bushwick. Organizing, legal services, health access, adult education, youth power.

Multi-story organizing center and social hub for grassroots groups, Bushwick residents, artists and activists, run alongside sister venue Starr Bar. Sliding-scale rooms host classes, trainings, screenings, meetings and benefit parties.
